In today's rapid industrial development, connectors which are considered important components have also seen a rapid growth. In order to make products work better, global connector manufacturers have been committed to developing new connector technologies. Here are a few of the world's most famous connector manufacturers: Tyco is the leading manufacturer and provider of electrical and electronic components. It is a designer, manufacturer, installer and servicer of submarine communications systems as well as the largest fire protection system manufacturer, installer and supplier of electronic security services.

The Aerospace Division of Amphenol Aerospace is the biggest interconnect manufacturing division of the Amphenol Group. It designs and manufactures circular and rectangular connectors, optical connectors, EMI/EMP filters and a variety of special application connections which are rugged and durable, and capable of handling all kinds of dangerous terrain and environment.
FCI is the world's fourth-largest manufacturing brand of connectors. Its business presence expands the globe and provides more than 100,000 products, including standard connectors for communication, power, and medical industries, as well as value-added products such as membrane switches, FPCA, PCBA, wire harness assemblies, injection molded cable assemblies, fiber optics, and heat sinks  which are widely used in consumer electronics, computer products, communication products, automotive products, industrial products, medical equipment and other industries .
Compared with big name suppliers that have set the rules of the industry, Taiwan's local connector manufacturers also play a key role. 98% of notebook computers are manufactured by Taiwanese companies, making Taiwan a major hub with the largest number of notebook connector manufacturers (over 200) having a capital of between NT$1~7 billion; the biggest among them is Foxconn.

Foxconn belongs to the high-tech industry, specializing in R&D and manufacture of 3C products such as computers, communication, and consumer electronics. It is involved in the development and application of digital content, automotive components, retail, cloud computing services, new energy and new materials, as well as manufacture of sophisticated connectors.
Taiwan's Lotes is also an important connector manufacturer. It mainly produces CPU Socket connectors, 90% of which are used in personal computers and 10% in notebook computers. Its main production bases are located in Guangzhou and Suzhou in Mainland China.
At present, given the connector industry’s market globalization, there has been a decline in supply due to decreasing number of customers. Moreover, the trend of subcontracting and OEMs has only benefitted connector manufacturers with sufficient operating capital and technological capabilities in research and development.
