The connector industry may not be an emerging market, but it has enjoyed growing attention since electronic products have gradually become influential in people's lives, providing Connector manufacturers, unlimited potential in electronic product development. Unlike the steel industry, which is considered a necessity, the connector market’s development prospects are perceived as merely stable with no unexpected surprises. Therefore, more and more people have become interested in connector production and there has been an influx of connector manufacturers around the world. However, it remains unclear whether this increase in manufacturers is favorable or not. Although the connector industry has grown significantly, it has also become more competitive. Many connector manufacturers have started to change their production strategies, focusing not only on production volume, but also on technological content.  Continuous innovation in connector technology has also led to new challenges and requirements for product upgrades.

Connector upgrades should satisfy not only customer demand but also development trends. Specifically, they should take into account what customers need, i.e., the connector’s functions, properties, protection functions, etc.  In order to achieve this goal, connector manufacturers should constantly conduct market surveys to learn the kind of connector users need. For instance, a user needs a connector that can resist pressure and can be used under strong pressure. From a normal connector with common functions, it is gradually transformed and integrated into a structure that complements the mind of the user.

Connector manufacturers should personally keep up with technological developments. New features should be added to the connector, pushing technological innovations forward.  Designing according to customer requirements is like “being led by the nose” but designing according to one’s own terms is synonymous to “calling the shots”. Driving connector innovation on one’s own terms provides autonomy in connector production. If a connector manufacturer adds a new feature to the connector, it contributes to the development of one or even several related industries, magnifying the economic benefits brought by this technological innovation. Aside from adding new features to the connector, the manufacturer has to enhance the connector’s basic performance; otherwise, it would be like putting the cart before the horse. Connector manufacturers must continue to create technological innovations to gain competitive advantage.
