Key issues of concern for connector manufacture

Connector manufacturers are those who produce connectors. More than anything else, they are concerned about the market for their connectors and how these can be sold. But what is the key to generating sales, is it the quality of the connector? What is a high-quality connector? One that has a fast transmission speed; therefore, improving the data transmission rate has always been the main concern of connector manufacturers.

In principle, if the data transmission speed increases, the influence of the corresponding capacitance and impedance also increases, causing mutual interference of signals, i.e., the signal on one of the terminals affects the signals of adjacent terminals, resulting in crosstalk or disturbance to the integrity of the signal. This is the drawback of an increase in data transmission speed. In many cases, a lower transmission rate is preferred and it is best if transmitted signals do not interfere with each other. In addition to signals that cause mutual interference, a decrease in capacitance due to increase in speed can cause signal degradation attributed to a reduction in high-speed signal impedance. A new standard for connectors on the market today can increase the maximum transmission speed in each direction, thereby significantly increasing the speed of signals transmitted by a single connector. Previously, high-speed signals were typically the impedance of the control signal path using coaxial cables and coaxial connectors. The concept that was adopted involved separating each signal transmission terminal from each other. The use of differential signals facilitates the separation of every signal transmission terminal from each other since one side of each differential pair of signals has a grounded pin, which reduces interference caused by the series.


This high-speed connector is used in many special industries and adopts a very sophisticated design technology. Generally, it is divided into two layers. The first layer is the open pin area that separates the adjacent ground terminals, while the other layer is the grounding mask installed between the rows. In addition to these two layers, there is also a top-level application. The top-level application has a metal ground structure surrounding each signal terminal. The blocking design of these signals should have a higher transmission speed, while the mutual interference between the signals can be avoided or reduced.
It is only through constant product innovation that connector manufacturers can find their market niche.
