Connector suppliers require strict quality control

Connectors are small, but they are indispensable electronic components in our daily life. Their role is very simple: to establish a connection between different components and to set up a bridge of communication, so that the data or current can circulate.

At the current stage it seems like the connector suppliers market has rebounded. As pointed out by the survey conducted by Bishop & Associates, the first half of 2012 was affected by the impact of the global economic environment, thus the global connector market sales declined about 3 to 4 percentage points compared to the same period in 2011. However, in the fourth quarter of 2012, it had significantly improved again. Overall in 2012, the total sales of the global connector supplier market is about 47.1 billion USD, and it was projected that in 2013, the connector market sales would reach about 49 billion USD, showing a 4.2% micro growth situation. In terms of market supply and demand, the price of connector products is relatively stable, but the business strategy of the connector suppliers and distributors has become more conservative. By increasing the number of orders and reducing the order quantity to avoid risks, the delivery time is shortened.

The quality of the connectors directly affects the user's willingness to continue to use the product, and it also affects the brand's reputation. The complicated production process includes many aspects, from product design, material selection, production, testing, packaging, storage to transportation. Every step needs to be strictly checked, any mistakes will directly or indirectly affect the quality of the connector.

As the core part of the entire interface, whether the connector's quality is up to standard or the performance is stable will both make the product's service lifespan and using experience challenging. Since connectors often require frequent insertion and extraction or long-term fixing, it is necessary to perform corresponding tests according to requirements in different connector fabrication. Good structural strength is one of the necessary conditions for ensuring the stability and reliability of the connector. As a connecting component for transmitting signals and conducting power, it is required to have excellent electrical conductivity. If the electrical conductivity of the connector is not strong, the transmission efficiency will be greatly affected. If the resistance on the conductive part is excessively high, it will lower the speed of the transmission signal, causing unnecessary temperature rise along with a large amount of loss in energy during the transmission process, which has a harmful effect on the quality and speed of the transmission itself.

In addition to selecting high-quality, suitable raw materials, the connectors also need to be configured using an equitable production process. Only a good design can make the finished product fulfill its proper duty. As far as the current situation is concerned, there is still much room for improvement in our design and processing techniques. Meanwhile, we can reduce the defective rate by updating the production equipment and optimizing the original design, and consequently improve the overall quality of the connectors. In terms of daily management, connector suppliers must strictly perform quality control in raw material procurement, production and processing, quality inspection, etc. Providing professional training programs for actual operators, cultivating their sense of responsibility, and implementing control at all levels to ensure the excellent quality of the products that are delivered in to the hands of the customers are key measures that suppliers must conduct.
