In connector products, contact is one of the most important parts. Therefore, this article will help you to understand the working principle of contact for Asia FPC Connector, analyze and zero in on the causes of contact failure. The fundamental reason that could affect contact is that its surface current flux has changed. There are several reasons for this factor:

1. Corrosion of contact: Asia FPC Connector has different environments depending on the industry that uses it. For example, the medical equipment industry has high environmental purity, while the industrial automation has a rather harsh environment. In its application in industrial automation, there are often pollutants in the air which will contaminate exposed metal parts. Or some special organic gases in the working environment may cause corrosion to the contacts. Corrosion and contamination will increase the resistance of the contacts, therefore influencing the electrical properties of connectors.

2. Electric arc corrosion: Electric arc discharge occurs when the conductor closes under high voltage and high current intensity. Electric arc discharge produces instantaneous high temperature, which will melt and gasify the metal surface of the contacts and will cause deformation of contacts. When electric arc discharge forms a plasma state, the metal surface of the contact will be coated with a layer of chemical film, and such an uncontrollable chemical film is the main factor that affects the electrical performance of FPC Connector. When the intensity of electric arc discharge is too high, it will also affect the insulating layer. In addition, ionization can make nitrogen, water and oxygen in the air have a chemical reaction and produce nitric acid, which can directly corrode the metal surface, and tin hydroxide and other non-conductive compounds are produced by hydrolysis. On the other hand, in the AC system, if the electrical appliance is an inductive load, it bears more current, even up to 10 times that of the working current. At this point, the electric arc discharge will have a similar effect to that of welding, making the corrosion of electric arc more serious. The larger the resistance, the higher the current density and the higher the temperature, the more problems are caused on the welding between contacts, thus forming a vicious circle.

3. Vibration is often encountered by Asia FPC Connectors in practical applications. These vibrations can not be detected by the naked eye, and the amplitude is usually in the micron level. There are many reasons for the vibration, but the result is similar to that of the wear and tear on metal parts of the contact. Alternating stress also causes permanent deformation on metal fatigue, and ultimately increases the resistance between contacts.
