Although the global economy and various industrial environments were affected heavily by COVID-19 at the beginning of 2020, 2020 is a milestone for the network technology industry towards 5G high-speed broadband network and QSFP28 connectors. 4G network has added a lot of new entertainment to our lives, while 5G high-speed broadband network has built the vast connection points for our electronic Internet of Things and created a real Internet of Things. However, in order to make 5G broadband networks popular all over the world, in addition to restrictions such as the wide establishment of 5G base stations, there are also some trust crises including the "network security" established.
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has brought about a freezing point in international relations between the United States and China. On the grounds of "opposition to the persecution of human rights", "information and network security", "opposition to totalitarian ideology" and "national security", the United States has begun to crack down on China's network technology industry, for example, the U.S. Export ban on Huawei and blocking Chinese communication software such as TikTok and WeChat, which has caused unprecedented obstacles to the global prevalence of 5G.
However, the United States recently released "5G Clean Networks" in which there are five Taiwanese telecommunications companies. The "Clean Networks" was a list by Think Tank and Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) commissioned by the U.S. Department of State after evaluating the use of global networks, telecommunications networks and the supply of telecommunications equipment, aiming to ensure that 5G technology, telecommunication network, Internet of Things, mobile data, cloud computing and other technologies are not served by the "distrustful" equipment suppliers, so as not to suffer from information security doubts including network attacks, which is also to crack down on the autocratic and unfair extralegal control of the Communist Party of China.
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on various countries is significant, heavily affecting the tourism industry of various countries and the attitude of the World Health Organization in dealing with the epidemic is also obviously inclined to China, so the United States has formed new alliances with the European Union, Australia, New Zealand and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition to the policy of opening up the border gradually, future international trade, network technology, and electronic equipment components including semiconductors and wafers also need to conform to the new trade policies before being used inside and outside the United States. Therefore, the trade barriers set up against China recently have undoubtedly had a significant impact on 5G popularization, QSFP28 connectors and other component industries, which has also made people begin to think about "network security" and other issues.
As mentioned in the QSFP28 Connector Extension Column, that we were able to freely share technologies, ideas and cultural exchange through the Internet in the past is based on the prerequisite of "security". Starting from the new era of 2020, whether we can use the Internet as easily and freely as before depends on the international situation in the future.
