As a transmission tool for signals and wired networks, receivers, switches and connectors are needed for the optical fibers to connect multiple computers simultaneously for simultaneous operation and data transmission. Optical fibers are divided into "single-mode optical fibers" and "multi-mode optical fibers". Single-mode optical fibers can connect ultra-long distances of more than 10 kilometers, while multi-mode optical fibers are limited to transmission distances of about 500 meters. The most commonly used connector for optical fiber head is the SFP connector, during the use of which several characteristics should be paid attention to.

I mainly remember that when I was young, there was a sudden upsurge of "optical fiber". Major telecommunication companies launched optical fiber cable TV and optical fiber cable network schemes one after another. Therefore, for a while, many of my friends converted ADSL TV lines into optical fiber TV and network, and of course my family was no exception. Since childhood, our impression of the fiber-optic communication has been equated with speed and stability. Either for watching the broadcast of the football match or rushing to purchase tickets of concerts, or even for taking elective courses in high schools and universities, fiber-optic communication has helped a lot. However, what exactly is fiber-optic communication?

Fiber-optic communication is a way of data transmission using light and optical fiber, which belongs to a kind of wired network, playing the most important wired communication mode in our daily life. Fiber-optic communication needs transmitters to generate optical signals, which are transmitted by optical fibers and then converted into radio communication signals by receivers. Fiber-optic communication is most often used in telephones, networks and cable TV. The signal and interference degree of optical fiber cables are far better than those of traditional copper wires, which are also mostly used in long-distance and large-scale transmission occasions.

SFP connectors are generally used in routers, switches, transceivers, optical terminals and base stations, as well as extended connector products such as SPF port optical modules and SPF+ slots on switches. During the connection of the optical module and the optical fiber transceiver, "the wavelength, transmission distance, tailing end interface and speed are consistent" should be guaranteed. Basically, SPF+ connectors only support the same series of SPF+ ports, and single-mode optical fiber can only connect single-mode series, while multi-mode optical fiber can only connect multi-mode series. Although the cost of fiber-optic communication and cable are higher than that of traditional copper wire, and fiber-optic communication also requires more equipment to support and send & receive signals, because optical fiber uses optical signals, it is less disturbed by an external magnetic field than copper wire, and there will not be the problem of resistance loss for the optical signal of optical fiber in the process of information transmission. Major telecom operators have also used the fiber-optic communication technology to launch different entertainment programs including TV networks. Consumers can enjoy the convenience brought by fiber-optic communication to their lives with technology only by moving their fingers.
